Extreme sadness hit me all of a sudden

I was feeling pretty tired today as it was, and more so just irritated at what I've been feeling today and last night, but withint the last 10 miutes, I've gotten hit with extreme sadness and holding back tears. I was talking to my bf on the phone, telling him I felt really sad and I don't know why and then tears started pouring down my face.
