When I was a kid.....it was ingrained into us that you gave up your seat on a bus if an older person was without a seat.

Men always used to hold doors open for ladies.

Bus drivers used to assist mothers with prams.

If you saw a wheelchair, or a mother with a pram you automatically stepped aside so they could get past.

Children sat still and quiet in public places.
